As the trade deadline is quickly approaching us the Indians are in the middle a playoff push. While there right there in the hunt a couple decisions have to be made. They could be salers and shop Trevor Bauer in hopes to land a right handed bat which is desperately needed and find a contract that they can control for the next three year while doing it. While that sounds like a good scenario, I would worry about trading your best pitcher while you are in a race for the wild card/ division and have a possibility for a winner takes all wild card playoff game . With no clue if or how Kluber or Carasco will be when they come back that is a major risk and statement to what they think of this teams. The other option could be the conservative route. This would require the Indians to be creative and be willing to get rid of a prospect that they may not be particularly high on. They could trade that prospect for a expiring contract that would be a bat to help them for this final push. This would keep the pitching in tact and at least buy you time to figure out what you do with Bauer since you know his time here is numbered. Either way you think the Indians should go I believe that they are not real buyers or salers. They will make a deal at the deadline but knowing the Indians it will be more like after deadline waivers move that they are known for. I don’t believe they are willing to take a risk on a big change in there team at this point in the season. They are also not going to pay a premium to get a big time bat or a big time contract. So sit tight and lets see if we can work the under there radar magic for this playoff run.
