Lets get right into what you all want to read! My top 5 duos in the NBA plus a sleeper that I think will catch teams by surprise. It is so man nice duos in the NBA and unfortunately I had to only choose 5. In this top 5 I am taking into account chemistry of duo or fit and the perceived effectiveness in the playoffs as well as regular season.
Giannis and Khris are a solid combination You have two guys with extreme length . That play well together Giannis is impossible to stop going to the rim and he’s only expanded his game each year. Khris a sharp shooter who can put the ball on the floor. The Key reason they make the top 5 is they both are very good defenders with size and ability to guard multiple positions which helps the Bucks create tons of mismatches with there diverse lineups they can put out each night.Coming in at 4 Is the very interesting duo of Russ and Harden. I’ll lead off with a disclaimer. I believe this duo has the biggest bust potential of all the duos on this list. With that being said there isn’t a lack of talent. The two former MVPs have played together and they both bring passion and fire to the floor every night. They are both willing passers seeing that they both have led the league in assist . The big question is which one of these ball dominant guards will play off of the ball. Who will make the most sacrifice to make it work. This duo has the potential to be unstoppable but I am to afraid that they will stop themselves first . The question will be stats or wins which is more important for these stars! At number 3 Its no doubt Klay and Steph. I know by now we have grown numb and tired of hearing about the splash brothers. This duo Changed the game and I would argue if this was to trios then warriors would be top of the list including Draymond. Chemistry wise this is the best team on this list. They also are the best shooting tandem we have ever seen. In this era great shooting = unstoppable. KD leaving only unleashes a team that was very hard to stop before Durant even arrived . Can they revert back to there old ways Can Steph curry get back to MVP form? Will Klay come back the same ? a lot of questions for the 3 time champs!At number 2 There is not much that need to be said besides this. You have the two best 2 way players in the game . You have a top 3 finisher in the MVP race and then you a have a finals MVP. I could go through all the accolades we understand why this duo is special. I have only two real concerns about this team which put the at the number 2 spot. Durability is the first issue both of these players have missed a ton of games in the past couple years. They both seem to break down at the end of the season. This years playoff push will be a much more difficult grind and even in winning in Toronto you could see Leonard breaking down and being less effective. Paul George consistently is injured at un-opportunistic times. Lastly I’m not sure how they actually fit with each other. There games are very similar so spacing and effectiveness. Everyone is calling Russ and Harden out for this. I say the same thing goes for this duo how well do there games mesh and how much do stats matter?
My number 1 Duo Lebron and AD don’t get me wrong I tried to figure a way to not put this duo on the top but I would say Lebron has never played with a Big as versatile at AD, Bosh being close but not as dominant on Defense or not as developed of a shooter. The concerns for this team will definitely be health AD is very much injury prone but from the looks he seems to be taking care of his body better then ever. I’m going to assume he will be in his best body this season. All I can visualize is a pick and roll featuring these two and the question is how do you stop it? Who do you double? Can you match a small ball line up with AD at center and Lebron at power forward? Versatility in the line up, perfect fit within players, and when the game slows all the way down you have two guys that can get you a very touch bucket. If Lebron is a willing defender this year the ski is the limit for this duo.
My sleeper team I wont spend much time on this duo but with Luka being “up next” as a budding star in the NBA . Kristaps already named the “unicorn” and a match up nightmare. This young duo has a chance to be a special pair that is big, young and highly skilled. Between these two players they both can do it all the question will be can they gel and work together to take over the league?
